Home Inspection in Flushing, MI
Older homes near downtown, newer subdivisions in the township, with thermal imaging on every inspection.
Flushing is a short drive northwest of Flint, in the same Genesee County area we have served for years. Mike's Complete Home Inspection inspects homes in the City of Flushing and Flushing Township for buyers, sellers and real estate agents, and the nearby communities of Clio, Montrose and Mount Morris are part of the same service area.
Every inspection is done by an InterNACHI certified, Board Certified Master Inspector. Thermal imaging is included, and your digital report, with photos and color-coded priorities, arrives same-day to within 24 hours, which helps when your inspection window is short.
Flushing homes: the older core and the newer edges
Flushing has two kinds of housing that call for different inspections. Around the downtown and the Flint River you will find older houses, many built before the middle of the last century, with basements, plaster walls and systems that have been replaced in stages over the years. Moving out into the township, the streets turn into subdivisions of ranches, split-levels and two-story homes, with newer construction added over the last few decades.
On the older homes we look closely at how the electrical has been updated, what the supply and drain piping is made of, the age of the furnace and water heater, and how the basement handles water. On the newer homes the systems are younger, so the focus moves to roof condition, attic ventilation and insulation, grading around the foundation, and workmanship that varies from builder to builder.
What we watch for in Flushing
- •Homes near the Flint River and on low lots: how the yard drains, whether the sump pump is working, and signs of past water in the basement. Thermal imaging helps us find moisture before it shows.
- •Electrical updates done in stages on older houses, where the wiring does not always match the panel feeding it.
- •Sewer laterals on homes built before 1985 or on lots with mature trees. Clay and Orangeburg lines in the Flint area are prone to root intrusion and collapse.
- •Radon. Genesee County sits in a moderate-to-elevated EPA radon zone, and the level varies from house to house, so we recommend a test on every purchase.
- •Roofs, gutters and attic ventilation on the newer subdivision homes, where ice dams and trapped attic moisture are common Michigan findings.

Frequently asked
Are you a licensed home inspector for Flushing?
Michigan does not license home inspectors at the state level, so look for certification instead. Mike's Complete Home Inspection is InterNACHI certified and a Board Certified Master Inspector. The About page lists the team's credentials.
How soon can you inspect a home in Flushing?
Flushing is close to our Flint base, so same-day and next-day appointments are available in most cases. Call or text (810) 423-2360, or use the contact page to book.
Should I test for radon in Flushing?
Yes. Radon comes from the soil, and two houses on the same street can test very differently. A 48-hour test can run alongside your home inspection, and you get written results with guidance if the level is above 4.0 pCi/L.
Do I need a sewer scope on an older Flushing home?
We recommend one on any home built before 1985 or with mature trees on the lot. A broken or root-filled sewer line does not show up in a standard walk-through, and it is a costly repair after closing.
